Equitable economic development unlocks the full potential of our economy by removing barriers and expanding opportunities our most vulnerable communities. Wake County Economic Development, a program of the Raleigh Chamber, is collaborating with Wake County Government and other partners to identify and assist targeted areas for economic mobility.

Forging a New Business Culture

In an effort to make the Triangle one of the most diverse business environments in the nation, Ken Lewis of Nexsen Pruet, PLLC, and Christopher Gergen of Forward Impact formed the Triangle Diversity Business Council in 2001.

The founders recognized the need to expand the vision to include equity and inclusion. They extended the reach further to the at-large business community. This forward thinking led to the creation of the Triangle DEI Alliance and its move to the Raleigh Chamber.
