Pathways Program

The Pathways Program aims to increase participation of historically underrepresented small businesses by providing networking support and a free, year-long Chamber membership. This membership provides resources and networking opportunities for small business owners. We believe that by increasing support and providing resource accessibility to our historically underrepresented businesses, it will create a more equitable and inclusive economic ecosystem.

As of 2018, there were over 4,500 historically underrepresented businesses certified with the NC Office for Historically Underutilized Businesses, of which over 80% were small businesses.

Businesses owned by individuals deemed to be historically disadvantaged have faced challenges, past and present, accessing capital and navigating industry social structures. By supporting and providing access to these historically underrepresented businesses, we are expanding opportunities, diversifying and strengthening local economies, and building communities. Corporations have embraced the fact that their products and supply chains grow stronger and more profitable when diversity is prioritized.
